The 2X MDM app (or client) installs on your Android smartphone or tablet as a “Device Administrator” type of application. The app is necessary as it allows security-driven functionality, find and track, app deployment and other 2X MDM features to work on your Android devices.

If you no longer want to manage one of your registered Android devices, it may become necessary to remove the 2X MDM client from the device.

Removing 2X MDM is a 2-stage process:

  1. Removing “Device Administrator” rights for 2X MDM on your Android device.
  2. Uninstalling the 2X MDM client

Step 1: Remove “Device Administrator” Rights for 2X MDM

The people who have downloaded the app on their phones in the office are unable to uninstall them now. The directions were followed exactly as above and the app says “Uninstall not successful”. This is happening for all users, how do they uninstall?

Hi Christi, they do not need to follow the above instructions any longer. They can easily uninstall it by logging into your 2X MDM account, select the devices and click on the button Uninstall Client.

I have downloaded the app 2X MDM, but I do not need this app. To remove this from my device, I followed the steps as described in your procedures, however, In the settings section I can only click on change account, all other options are unavailable. Therefore it is not possible to remove the “Device Administrator” Rights” What are the next steps?

When the app is initially installed, 2X MDM is added as an ANDROID device administrator.

Before attempting to uninstall the 2X MDM client app, you must first disable 2X MDM as a device administrator from the ANDROID settings directly.

To do this, from the ANDROID (not the 2X MDM client app) interface, go to Settings > Security (Location and Security on older versions of ANDROID)> Device administrators, disable ‘2X MDM’ and confirm the App deactivation.

Once disabled , you may proceed to uninstall the app from ANDROID Settings > Application manager (‘Applications’ on older versions of ANDROID)> Select the ‘2X MDM Client’ app> Uninstall.
