Configuring an iPhone for 2X MDM

If you want to manage your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch devices with 2X MDM, you must first generate and configure an Apple certificate and subsequently Enrol your device according to the below documents:

1. Configure an Apple certificate with your 2X MDM account: http://www.2x.com/faqs/configure-apple-certificate/

2. Enrol an iOS device with 2X MDM: http://www.2x.com/faqs/enroll-manage-iphone/

    Hi.
    I have problem with iPad 2 with iOS 6.0.1.
    Not run installing profile after 2X MDM start.
    2X MDM automaticaly close after 1 second.
    Iphone 4 with 6.0.1 is OK.

    Almost useless. Allowed me to uninstall the app on my iphone so what’s the point if a thief can uninstall it before I can lock or wipe the phone. Could be a great app though if they can lock it down.

      Ye that would be nice, although people could just wipe it >.<

      Jack – Even if the app is removed then remote lock and wipe will still work, just not location tracking

        I actually tried this in both IOS and Android. Installed the app and gave it administrator rights. Then I uninstalled and tried to lock it down from the 3cx control panel but it did not work. Once uninstalled the functionality was gone. I realize in IOS things are sometimes impossible but in Android it should be possible to lock this down. It should be impossible for the end user to uninstall unless unlocked in the 3cx admin panel. It should also not allow the end user to reset the phone to factory unless unlocked in the admin panel.

    Would be nice if the app was locked down and required a password to remove. Should be able to apply a custom ipad/iphone config file through it. Would be good if the app started running when rebooting ipad/iphone. Would be cool if you could hide the app from the home screen. Would be good if it revealed the public IP that the device is connected to.

    I’ve been comparing this one to Meraki and what I like most about this is that it keeps a location history and you can view call history.

      Raymond, this is not possible on iOS. HOwever 2X MDM functions remain working independent of the client app

    Hi when I installed on iPhone 5 it didn’t ask for Profile installation and when I approve on the 2X MDM management portal it says cannot approve due to certificate needed for IOS6.

    What is the point of having tracking app when server asks user to open app to get the location??? Or am I doing something wrong?

      Please bear with me here, by that do you mean that you have to start the 2X MDM app by yourself instead of it being on automatic start everytime your phone runs? or is it something else? If you could please provide more details as to the issue that would be great. Thank you for your time and please dont hesitate to contact us if you have any further inquiries

      I have also installed it on my iphone 5 but after installing my iphone was hanging again and again , so instantly i was removed it , Now my iphone is working correctly.

        Hi Daniel, thank you for sharing this with us. I can assure you that something went terribly wrong with your particular phone while installing the app. We have thousands of iOS clients who have installed our app and have never seen such scenario. Have you tried to install it for the second time? Maybe the app got corrupted while being installed.     I have 4 iOS devices listed in 2X MDM, unfortunately all of them do not remain active, after a day or so they all will be disconnected from 2X MDM although the 2X MDM program is actually opened/active on the iOS device. All of the iOS device have the latest software version.

    When I re-open the active 2X MDM app I can press connect and it will get active in 2X MDM portal again.

    This is very frustrating to me, is there something I can do to change this?

    Another problem, app removal is not supported on iOS devices. At least that is what the 2X MDM portal tells me if I try to.

      App removal is now supported on iOS devices but only for apps that were installed after 2X MDM was installed.Please let me know if you have any further inquiries or questions.

    hi there I just install app of removals company on iphone 4s but its not working and failed installation, its give message that Memory full but I have 10GB on my phone.

    when i open the application on my iphone 4. The status message changes
    from “Registering” to “Disconnected (Connection timeout)” every time i try.
    What could possibly be the problem..

      Please note that the device unique identifier is the device EMEI.

    when i’m downloading the apple cert from the apple site i’m getting a .json extension instead of a .pem please can anyone help?

      Hi there,

      Have you followed the process illustrated within the following document?: http://www.2x.com/faqs/configure-apple-certificate/

      If so, the issue is most likely browser related. Previous builds of IE were not able to receive .PEM files. Please try again with Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox and advise as to your results.

    I can´t make this software work. I already do all the certificate things but now when I tap connect in the app, I get a message: Please specify 2X MDM server and I don´t know where to get that. Yesterday doesn´t asked me that but instead of that, the software opened the ipad settings app and asked me about something else to make it work. I don´t know if it was the same thing or another.

      From the 2X MDM client >> Settings >> Advanced, ensure the option ‘Use Custom Server’ is not enabled.
