New 2X ThinClientServer 6 makes business IT mobile, secure and cost efficient.

Irving, Texas, USA, 11. Sept. 2008 – 2X Ltd, developer of virtual and thin client computing software, is pleased to announce the release of 2X ThinClientServer version 6. Building on the success of 2X ThinClientServer 5, this latest version includes a new user-friendly web based management console and important features enhancing the performance and functionality of its popular thin client OS and management system.

2X envisages that thin clients are to become a vital component in tomorrows IT infrastructures.

With the increasing popularity for VDI (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure) the demand for manageable and affordable thin client solutions explodes. The benefit of virtualization to most companies is that mobile users can take thin-clients; laptops or USB drives/sticks and recreate the corporate computing environment in a secure and controlled setting. This takes a lot of the expense out of managing hundreds or thousands of fat client desktops.

“Thin clients sales are on the upswing as CIOs are focused on power savings, security and manageability. A Virtual Desktop Infrastructure product combined with a vendor independent thin client solution like 2X ThinClientServer is the most efficient way to achieve this. With 2X ThinClientServer 6, companies can familiarize themselves with the technology and prepare for the deployment of thin clients,” says Nikolaos Makris, CEO, 2X Software.

How 2X ThinClientServer works

2X ThinClientServer deploys a small footprint Linux-based OS to popular thin client devices (HP, Neoware, Wyse, BOSAaNOVA, SAMSUNG and more) and to old or new PCs and laptops. Thin clients always boot the latest version of the OS from the ThinClientServer or locally. Hardware & connection settings (including resolution, logging and more) can be retrieved from the server when the client logs on, making thin clients easy to manage.

2X ThinClientServer 6 new features:

  • New user-friendly web based GUI for the management console.
  • Support for automated grouping of Thin Clients.
  • Management of stand alone clients running on 2X ThinClient OS.
  • Improved booting time for all type of 2X OS clients.
  • Full redundancy of configuration and settings.
  • Load balancing and high availability for PXE booting.
  • 2X ThinClientOS USB disk boot and installer.
  • Sound software emulation support.
  • Faster 2X ApplicationServer Client with file redirection and SSL support.
  • Windows 2008 Server ready.

Pricing & Availability

Pricing starts from as little as $595 for managing up to 25 thin clients; $1195 for 50 thin clients and $3695 for 250 thin clients. More information and a free trial version of the product are available at http://www.2x.com/thinclientserver/.
